Butterick 5678 Button Shirt Complete

Wow, this pattern turned out just like the pictures from Craftsy ! I loved every step of the way. I know I will make more button down shirts. My husband even asked if I would make a button down shirt for him. Of course, using a different sewing pattern. Butterick really impressed me with how well this pattern was written. Every step was easy to follow. I bought this pattern and fabric from a sewing kit from Craftsy. The sewing kit is still available for $26.99 and you can not buy the fabric for that price! Best Wishes and Tons of Stitches!

Butterick 5678 Button Shirt

I have been in the process of making this button down shirt from the Butterick 5678 sewing pattern. I love that it is a princess cut blouse in a button down shirt style. The sizing is wonderful too, I was able to make my size, which is size 12, with the correct bust size B.  There are a lot pieces, 17, to put together but if you are patient it will go very quickly. I am working with Robert Kaufman's gingham fabric in the color pond.  I love my Brother machine.  This part of the pattern, the collar, was the hardest part to put together. The diagram in the pattern was hard to understand and I couldn't find one online. Hopefully this will help someone. The collar is sandwich between the two collar band pieces and the non-interfacing band is sewn to the neck line of the shirt. Then you fold the band over and and incase the neck line, raw edge.  Next sleeves, cuffs and finishing this blouse. Can't wait to finish!

Tic Tac Toe Pin Cushion Tutorial

This a an a great way to learn about quilting but not make a quilt. This project is called the Tic Tac Toe Pin Cushion and it is simply two quilt blocks sewn together, to make a pin cushion. I love how large these are and I have been using mine for years!    Enjoy!

Craftsy Sewing Kits

I love to sew but I find it hard to get out to the fabric store which is 50 minutes away, one way! So after I received an email from Craftsy about their  Craftsy sewing kits on sale, 60% off retail price , I knew this would be a great opportunity to get a few projects and have them sent straight to my front door. By the way, for me this is like receiving Stitch Fix in the mail, except I got to pick it out and keep all of it. Ok, it's nothing like Stitch Fix. Here are the two projects I picked.... First up, is this knit pencil skirt. I know what your thinking, "This is super easy to make, didn't you make that already?" Yes, I did make it already by refashioning an old dress . But I did not have a pattern and the sewing kit was only $14.99 with fabric and the McCall's 6654 pattern ! Plus my refashioned knit skirt that I love, I wore slam out and there's a hole in the fabric. Speaking of fabric they are sending me Ponte Roma in black. Sometimes it is hard
