My $15 Swimsuit; Part 1

I am writing this in a 3 part post.
Part 1, Finding Lycra
✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄
I have always wanted to make all of my own clothes and bags but there are a few things that I have not ventured out and tried. Swimsuits are just one of the many garments, I have always bought not made. This year I thought I would give it  a try. Especially after shopping around and seeing the prices, $50-100. First, I set out to find lycra or swimsuit fabric. I do not live close to a mega fabric world, so I had to go online. Here are a few online shops that carry lycra.
I bought this green lyrca at Bikinis N Beads Supply. It is a small Etsy shop, that has recently opened in April. I found her prices reasonable and the shipping super fast.
The fabric with shipping was $14!!
To sew lyrca you need to have a stretch needle and use the zigzag, stretch stitch that looks like the lighten bolt. I have a serger, so I used a 3- thread overlock stitch. You do not have to use a serger because lycra doesn't unravel.
Now that I have the material, I need a pattern.
That will be tomorrow's post.

NYC sunny days are very inviting, and the beaches are always promising! I wish I could have that bikini this summer as you suggested in your post, and my word is Madewell exceptional with their styles. It is a very nice touch to have flowers on swimwear; number 3 is so pretty.

On another note, why not look at Bromelia’s chic swimwear line? Besides being stylish, they are just perfect for capturing the essence of summertime. By the way, do you know that there is an opportunity to make your shopping experience even better? There are some Bromelia Swimwear Coupon Codes. Well, it is always great when one gets to save some money while looking for the right suit!

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later. We used a 1.5
